Bone Density Scan

As many as 1 in 3 women over the age of 50 will develop the painful and debilitating condition known as Osteoporosis.  Early screening can help to prevent it and slow down deterioration in bone density.

Our safe, simple, non-invasive and low cost scan of the heel provides a speedy assessment of fracture risk and Osteoporosis development.

Higher risk factors:

The risk of developing Osteoporosis is greater in:

Women after the menopause or hysterectomy

Women with a family history of osteoporosis

Small bone framed or thin women

Those who have little or no exposure to the sun

Those with certain medical conditions such as hypothyroidism, or on certain medication such as steroids.

Men can also get it.

Although 4 times more women than men develop the disease, men can also get it, paticularly those with certain medical or hormonal conditions.
